The abundance and variety of different marine life is a very popular source of attraction for all of those passionate snorkelling enthusiasts out there.

The islands are also just as bountiful in their array of coral as in the variety of marine creatures that live in and around them.

With minimal gear requirements, snorkelling really is the ideal way to sightsee Malta’s diverse underwater world for as long as you would like during your holiday in Malta!

Outside of these months you would probably be better off if you get a wetsuit along with you.

Not to mention, it is cheap, and family friendly.

All you need is a mask and snorkel, and a pair of flippers if you want, and you are ready to go!

This, coupled with the stunning clear waters, makes snorkelling a very unique experience that you should definitely not miss while on your holiday in Malta.

Scuba Diving

So you can easily see marine life flourish in a vibrant display of colours during your holiday in Malta.

It is also important to note that the risk of encountering dangerous fish and aquatic life is extremely low, which means that this is a great environment with the perfect conditions for first time divers and beginners.

There are also plenty of challenging dives to choose from for the more experienced divers.

With dive sites just a couple minutes’ drive away from each other, you will be able to explore a variety of underwater worlds which range from reefs to labyrinthine caves.

Kayaking

Kayaking is an excellent activity that you should definitely put at the top of your list of things to do on the island during your holiday in Malta.

Between Gozo and mainland Malta lies the tiny island paradise known as Comino.

This is truly a little tropical paradise as it is a special hideout with little on it but a watchtower and a population of just two people.

It’s popular with kayakers, but its waters are busy and the Blue Lagoon attracts thousands in peak season.

When the weather is right, the stunning north side of Gozo is one of the most spectacular sights on the islands.

One can find plenty of Kayaking tours around the island of Gozo and its coastlines, that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

This area enables you to take in a number of captivating scenic views of the surrounding areas as well as explore the multitude of sea caves available, such as the in greek mythology, famous Calypso Cave, where it is believed that Homer’s Odysseus was held as a captive by a mythical nymph.

You also get a good look at the iconic landmarks and structures such as the Knights of Saint John Watch Towers.

Another popular kayaking trail starts from the old salt pans of Qbajjar, where salt is still collected to this very day, letting the seawater evaporate into the pans naturally in the sun.

From there, you would go up the coast to Dahlet Qorrot which is an inlet dotted with colourful boat-house caves burrowed into the rock.

This is where you will find a beautiful piece of land, from the water.

This is a wild land which is unlike anywhere else on the islands.

It contains very exotic red sands and stunning hills broken up with rocky bays.

The kayaking routes are obviously determined by the conditions of the sea, but there are always quiet places which are optimal for kayaking.

The only company you’ll see are the local fishermen on their traditional maltese luzzu boats.

Windsurfing

If you’re on holiday in Malta with your friends, you definitely want to try this one out!

In fact, Malta provides excellent avenues for windsurfing.

These great windsurfing spots around the island include St. Julian’s,  St. Thomas Bay and Mellieha Bay.

The recommended time to go windsurfing is between November and March, when the wind conditions are at their best for the sport, and the water is warm.

Although, you may still get a good wind surf on a windy summer day.

Cruises

Blue Lagoon, Crystal Lagoon and Comino

The islands of Gozo and Comino are two gorgeous islands that lie just off the north coast of Malta.

You can easily find a number of  full-day cruises which set sail from Sliema to both islands in one day.

These often include a sightseeing tour of the stunning landmarks including the Fungus Rock, and the Inland Sea.

Many of these cruises also include a tour to the Comino Caves, the Blue Lagoon, as well as the lesser-known Crystal Lagoon.

These are stunning places which feature beautiful turquoise waters clearer than a swimming pool.

That is definitely not to be missed while on holiday in Malta on a hot summer’s day.

Then a number of stops are made which allows for plenty of time to dive into the sea and snorkel or sunbathe on the deck.

Some other cruises would include a catamaran trip and explore some of the prettiest areas in and around Malta.

This is definitely a great option on your list of things to do while you are on your holiday in Malta.

Flyboarding

Flyboarding is a great activity to try out during your holiday in Malta.

This works by means of water jets which are attached to equipment like a hoverboard or jet pack.
